Undergraduate overview

Sociology prepares you for the challenges of the 21st century by giving you the cutting-edge tools to analyze why our culture, institutions, and societies are changing so rapidly and to understand how change and reform happens.

We seek to understand all aspects of human social behavior, including the behavior of individuals as well as the social dynamics of small groups, large organizations, communities, institutions, and entire societies.

BA

Whether you're interested in the general track or the data science, markets, and management track, there's something for everyone. 

Minor

Not enough time to complete the major? Consider a minor in sociology or a minor in poverty, inequality, and policy.

Capstone

All sociology majors are required to complete a capstone unless pursuing a senior honors thesis. 

Honors program

Honors students work under the direction of faculty advisors to complete a senior thesis.
