Visitors
The Department of Sociology welcomes scholars from around the world.
Three types of visitors are hosted:
- VS: Visiting Scholar – A VS is a recognized expert in their field. To become a VS, a Stanford faculty member must submit a formal request to host the scholar. To initiate the appointment process, a sociology faculty member should submit the Sociology Visitor Request Form.
- VSR: Visiting Student Researcher - A VSR is a student who has not yet obtained a PhD (or its foreign equivalent), is not a recognized expert in their field, and is invited to work with a sociology faculty member on mutually beneficial projects. To initiate the appointment process, a sociology faculty member should submit the Sociology Visitor Request Form. Note that VSRs can be appointed on a monthly basis.
- PD: Postdoctoral Scholar - Opportunities for postdoctoral scholars in the Department of Sociology will be advertised when available.
