Pei Palmgren

Postdoctoral Fellow

Pei is a political sociologist specializing in international migration and governance. Using ethnographic methods, Pei studies the interaction between state and society during migration governance processes and its impact on state power and migrant lives. Projects include comparative, multi-sited research on labor migration governance in Thailand, forced migration in Southeast Asia, and refugee resettlement in the United States. Pei has a PhD in sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles and is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford's Immigration Policy Lab and Department of Sociology.
