Emma Casey

Emma Casey is a sociologist and interdisciplinary researcher at Stanford whose work bridges the study of organizations, technology, and workforce development. She is currently a PhD candidate in Sociology and researches workforce origins and adaptations in nanotechnology, with a particular focus on the role of community in shaping technical careers and lab-based learning environments. Her professional experience includes graduate research and teaching in sociology, AI consulting for research, and process support in nanofabrication. Across these roles, Emma has combined classroom leadership, research mentorship, and technical training. 

Before coming to Stanford, Emma earned a MA in Sociology from Colorado State University where her research focused on organizations that aid those affected by human trafficking. The interplay of organizations and individual autonomy continue to intrigue her as an opportunity for using sociology in practice. Outside of the lab or classroom, Emma enjoys rock climbing, classical music, and coaching Muay Thai.
