Britiny Cook
Britiny is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Stanford University, specializing in organizational theory, economic sociology, and quantitative methods. Her research examines how organizational models and cultures shape employee experience, with a focus on identity transformation and organizational control. In her dissertation, she theorizes Total Work, a novel organizational form that fuses professional and private life through cultural, temporal, and spatial integration. Building on this, she employs computational text analysis and archival research to trace the prevalence and mechanisms of Total Work in the tech and finance sectors. Beyond academia, Britiny has accumulated several years of experience in people analytics and data science. She is a Stanford Data Science Alumna ('21) and also a Senior Business Data Analyst at Intuit. She holds an MA and BA in Sociology from Stanford University, where she graduated with distinction.
