Ashley Bennett

Postdoctoral Fellow

Ashley is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the VMware Women’s Leadership and Innovation Lab at Stanford University. As an intersectional feminist psychologist, Ashley is broadly focused on understanding attitudes and ideologies that promote prejudice and discrimination–particularly those grounded in white supremacy–along with understanding the mental health consequences for those targeted by discrimination. Currently, Ashley is studying the subtle (yet impactful) manifestations of coded racism perpetrated by White women, while also running a series of social psychological experiments testing the conditions in which White people are threatened by discussion of race. Most recently, Ashley assessed the validity of sexual harassment measures among Asian, Black, Latinx, and White women in her dissertation (Bennett, 2023), and Ashley co-authored a book chapter on gender and the impostorism phenomenon (Rackely et al., 2024).
