Robb Willer, Jackelyn Hwang ranked top computational social science contributors

Professor Robb Willer and Associate Professor Jackelyn Hwang were recognized as leading individual contributors in the Computational Social Science Rankings, a metrics-based assessment of publication output over the past decade. Sociology-affiliated faculty members Jennifer Pan, Daniel McFarland, Amir Goldberg, and Walter W. Powell were also among the leading contributors, reflecting the department’s interdisciplinary connections across the university. Stanford ranked first among institutions overall.

Willer specializes in social psychology, political sociology, collective behavior, and social movements. He directs the Politics and Social Change Lab and the AI for Public Benefit Lab and co-directs the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society.

Hwang directs the Changing Cities Research Lab and serves as interim faculty director of the Program on Urban Studies. Her research focuses on urban sociology, race and ethnicity, immigration, and inequality.
