Matthew Clair Receives Ruth Shonle Cavan Young Scholar Award

The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce that Matthew Clair is the recipient of the 2022 Ruth Shonle Cavan Young Scholar Award. The prestigious award is given to recognize outstanding scholarly contributions to the discipline of criminology by someone who has received the Ph.D., MD, LL.D. or a similar graduate degree no more than five years before the year of the award. He is scheduled to receive the award in Atlanta on Nov. 16, 2022. Congratulations Matt!

Dr. Matthew Clair is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and (by courtesy) the Law School at Stanford University. His scholarship examines inequality in the criminal legal system, legal institutions, and the legal profession.
