Asad L. Asad honored with two awards from the Eastern Sociological Society

Asad L. Asad, assistant professor of Sociology, has received two prestigious honors from the Eastern Sociological Society to be presented at the organization's annual meeting March 7.
Asad was awarded the Mirra Komarovsky Book Award for his book Engage and Evade: How Latino Immigrant Families Manage Surveillance in Everyday Life (Princeton University Press, 2023), which examines how everyday forms of surveillance threaten undocumented immigrants but also offers them hope for societal inclusion. Additionally, he received the Public Sociology Award, recognizing his commitment to bridging cutting-edge sociological research with meaningful public engagement. These awards highlight Asad’s significant contributions to both scholarship and public discourse on immigration and surveillance.
