Location
CCSRE Conference Room, Building 360
Ángel Ross

Ángel Ross, a Provostial Fellow in the Department of Sociology, will present their ongoing work in a series of lightning talks at CCSRE's Faculty Seminar Series. Ross earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, with a designated emphasis in Global Metropolitan Studies. Their research examines how structural forces — particularly housing policy, policing practices, and carceral systems — shape racial and economic inequality across metropolitan regions. Using computational and quantitative methods, the work focuses on suburbanization, segregation, and displacement, with particular attention to how institutions such as prisons and eviction systems contribute to spatial inequality in the post–civil rights era. Their projects explore issues such as gentrification, renter vulnerability, and the role of land use and law enforcement in reinforcing segregation, with the goal of informing more equitable policy solutions.

Ross joins fellow Provostial Fellows Austin Anderson of the Department of English and Chelsey Clark of the Department of Psychology in conversation with Bryan Brown.

Please RSVP here by Friday, April 24th to the organizers minimize food waste.
