Logo design contest for the new school of Sociology

Help shape the visual identity of our new school of Sociology

The Sociology Department invites submissions for a logo design to be used on the department website and in printed materials. We plan to launch the logo in June, at a conference titled, "Open and Engaged Sociology.”

The conference brings together scholars committed to rigorous inquiry and to rethinking how social science is practiced, shared, and applied to the world’s most pressing problems.

We are seeking a modern logo that is evocative rather than literal— a design that reflects the department’s commitment to open, engaged, public-facing scholarship and to taking on the fundamental problems of our time e.g. authoritarianism, inequality, rent-seeking and corruption, externalities and capture, racism and ethnocentrism.  Please see “Our research methodologies” for a more detailed explanation of the department’s mission.

Who can apply?

Anyone in the Stanford community
